Founded by longtime motorsport aficionado Ricky Capone in 2019, Capone Motorsports is a professional race car preparation facility and race team management operation, currently supporting motorsport endeavors in club and professional racing.
Ricky’s love of racing traces back to his father, who raced locally and nationally in North America, reaching as high as Formula Atlantic. He owned a successful business in his company, Foreign Auto Services, and once his two sons became of age, they came in to work alongside their father.
In 2011, Ricky joined the professional sports car racing team Extreme Speed Motorsports, which became Tequila Patron ESM. He started as a gearbox mechanic, then became shop foreman at the team’s headquarters, putting his experience with the family business to work, while also increasing his already-vast skillset under the professional race team’s banner.
When the team ceased operations at the end of the 2018 season, Ricky opened his own shop, continuing to offer his services to other professional motorsport teams. He went on to work as a mechanic at the Indianapolis 500 and with professional sports car racing teams Meyer Shank Racing and Starworks Motorsport.
Today, Capone Motorsports manages Tower Motosport’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship effort, defending their 2022 LMP2 class title. In addition to providing support for professional race programs, Capone Motorsports also restores historic sports cars and offers track support for various club racing efforts across North America.
